Why Politics?

Politics is the most beautiful, noble, and fulfilling career that exists. It is the only career where the decisions you make contribute to the development of your country and the happiness of an entire people. On one hand, it’s a career that requires great sacrifice, but on the other hand, it fills you with immense satisfaction when you meet people who you don’t even know, and they tell you that you’ve done or are doing a good job. That’s why I am so grateful to everyone who, in one way or another, has supported me throughout my political career.

What Makes You the Right Person for Politics?

I have an unconditional love for our beautiful island Aruba, and I am so proud to be a child of this land. I am a person of principle, integrity, and honesty. I take my work seriously, but at the same time, I am cheerful and have a good sense of humor. I am an ordinary person, humble and down-to-earth. I am a good person with a big heart, always ready to help. I am empathetic and cannot stand injustice. I am open and direct in my way of communicating. I am a rational and pragmatic person. Taking into account the desired result, I evaluate the pros and cons of different options to choose the best one. I am a “workaholic” and an “overachiever,” so in everything I do, I go “all out” and give my very best. I am resilient. I have faced many struggles in life and have always recovered from them in record time. I never give up. I am organized and manage things well, with a keen eye for detail. I am an optimistic and innovative person who thinks outside the box. I also continually self-reflect to improve myself as a person.

How Do You Stay ‘Updated’?

I listen, engage in dialogue, and exchange ideas and opinions with as many people as possible, so I am aware of what is going on in the community—their ambitions, wishes, concerns, and hardships. Additionally, I do a lot of online research to stay well-informed about global developments and their potential impact on our country.

How Do You Maintain Human Connection in the Age of Social Media?

Social media is an efficient way to communicate with a large group of people, but my preference is to maintain “one-on-one” contact with the community. Every day, wherever I go, people approach me to share their thoughts, and this is something I greatly appreciate. Even if it’s at an inconvenient moment, I make time and give them the attention they deserve. This is something I always do, not just during election campaigns.

Most Urgent Challenges?

“Sustainable development and the recovery of financial autonomy are crucial for the next government.”

Given all the major challenges our country is currently facing, it is impossible for me to limit this to just three. I will mention five, and the sequence does not indicate their level of importance. For PPA, all five are equally important:

  • 1. Ensuring sustainable development.
  • 2. Reducing the cost of living and improving purchasing power.
  • 3. Achieving real and lasting development in San Nicolas and its surrounding areas.
  • 4. Ensuring a dignified life and fair treatment for all retirees.
  • 5. Restoring financial autonomy.

Critical Areas for Action?

Especially regarding the five points mentioned, the next PPA government will act decisively. For more information on our vision, action points, and priorities, I invite the entire community to read our party program,
“Plan Nos ARUBA 2025 – 2050,” available on our website www.ppa-aruba.com.

How Do You Maintain Yourself as an Honest Politician?

Our country has the laws and institutions to safeguard integrity, but at the end of the day, integrity is a matter of mentality. I remain faithful to my principles and the principles of good governance.

Ideal Term Length for a Political Career?

This isn’t necessarily something that needs to be expressed in time or age. As long as God gives me life and health, and as long as the community supports me, I will continue..

Vision for the Next 4 Years?

With the support of the electorate on December 6, PPA will become part of the next government. The greater this support, the more of our program we can execute. That’s why I invite everyone to take a closer look at our program. In the next four years of governance, PPA will build a solid foundation to achieve our vision for the next 25 years.

How Do You Plan to Achieve the Changes You Seek?

By working hard, day and night, with body and soul, to move our country forward, as I have always done.

“I feel that my answers to the questions above give conscious voters enough reasons to vote for me. The only thing I want to add is that I am part of a party, a team of 16 candidates, all of whom, like me, are ready, prepared, and eager to take our country to the next level of excellence in all fields and aspects. Thank you in advance for your trust. PPA is here to work for all of Aruba. Let’s make the dream of 2025-2050 a reality.”
