Why Politics?

Before March 2024, I wanted to stay as far away from politics as possible. But a young politician spoke with me and convinced me that if the right people don’t step up, we can’t expect things to change for the better. My perspective changed, and I realized I could be part of something new and impactful—something I hadn’t considered before. Not for power or position, but for a shared vision of a better future for Aruba.

What Makes You the Right Person for Politics?

We need leaders who can adapt, connect with people, and focus on solving systemic problems. With an education in engineering and sustainable technology, a background in "safety", and a commitment to the community, I bring a balanced approach to analyzing and solving problems.

How Do You Stay Updated?

It’s a continuous process of learning and adapting. I am passionate about learning as much as I can and staying aware of developments in my field, both locally and globally. I believe academic institutions must collaborate with politics to bring external knowledge to our island. I want to be a leader who understands the fears and needs of the people and can implement realistic solutions.

How Do You Maintain Human Connection in a Social Media Era?

To be honest, between school, work, family, and maintaining my health, it’s challenging. But I try to stay connected with everyone, valuing each person’s voice. I feel it’s my responsibility to make time for these connections and not let these moments slip away.

Most Urgent Challenges?

  • Cost of living.
  • Information and technology.
  • Economic development and diversification.

Critical Areas for Action?

Our ecology (both people and nature). We’re facing the challenges of climate change and growing tourism pressures, which cause irreversible damage.

I propose a realistic nature management and monitoring system and a balanced tourism level that leaves room for economic diversification. I also believe in educating our local community so they can be stewards of our island and remain active and critical in building a prosperous and thriving Aruba.

What Makes an Honest Politician?

Honesty and transparency. One reason I decided to go into politics is because I feel a lot of information is withheld from the public, or it’s hard to access important data. My plan is to use communication, awareness, and education to explain each step of the process, removing any element of surprise and giving people the opportunity to ask questions and give their opinions.

How Do You Stay Honest in Politics?

Along with communication, I firmly believe in quality assurance. I will propose regular audits of my responsibilities to ensure I fulfill my obligations with the highest level of integrity. This will build trust and provide the community with confidence that I prioritize their interests.

Ideal Term for a Political Career?

I couldn’t set a fixed term; I’d say as long as one demonstrates a commitment to serve, acts with integrity, and delivers results for the country.

Vision for the Next Four Years?

My goal is to promote data sharing across all sectors. "Data-driven decision-making" is essential for increasing efficiency in Aruba. This starts with accurate information and collaboration with the right people to reach sustainable solutions. The goal isn’t for the government to present solutions alone, but to provide reliable data so the public can also contribute to educated and effective decisions.

In addition, my plan includes preparing our workforce and education systems for Aruba’s future. I want to help develop programs and opportunities that empower Arubans to contribute to the transformation of our country. Let’s bring back outstanding Arubans, create opportunities for them to shine, and make them part of the transformation.

How Do You Plan to Achieve the Change You Seek?

Real change can be achieved through collaboration, strategic planning, implementation, continuous monitoring, and improvement. I believe the importance of working with data goes beyond politics and personal preference.

For real change, Arubans need to understand the needs and how it will benefit them. The only way to achieve lasting change is if we work together, feel part of the process, and have a voice in shaping our future.

I am committed to the well-being of our people and environment, with honesty and clarity. I want to be part of real change—a government focused on sustainable, data-based solutions. With my knowledge and experience in various roles, I believe I have the capacity to be a leader who can bring about this change.

My priority is to work for a future where our people are empowered, and our land is protected. My vision includes a diversified economy, a better quality of life for our people, and preserving our environment. A vote for me is a vote for preservation and lasting prosperity.
