Why Politics?

Politics is an essential platform where you represent the people’s voice. It is a commitment to work for the well-being of Aruba. I have already served two terms with a high sense of responsibility, working hard to fulfill this role.

What makes you the right person for politics?

As my campaign slogan says: Determined with Firmness. I am committed to fighting for equality on our island and ensuring that everyone enjoys the quality of life they deserve. I focus on Tourism and Education—two areas where I know I can work hard and find solutions to ongoing issues.

How do you stay ‘Updated’?

I closely follow the relevant organizations in our community and try to stay up-to-date with various reports and news. In this modern era, it’s essential to be aware of both local and international developments.

How do you maintain human connection in a Social Media era?

Social media is a crucial tool for any campaign, as many of us rely on it for news. While a large portion of my campaign is online, I also make time for traditional house visits. Many of our older citizens still value this personal attention. Visiting homes allows me to connect more closely with the issues our people face daily.

Most urgent challenges?

A very big problem we are currently facing is the socio-economic issue. Many families are not left with enough to make dignified purchases to provide for their families. Another major issue is that students are losing motivation in their studies, which is a result of an outdated education system with limited resources for teaching. There is also a lack of dedication from our educators, which affects the quality of education they are able to provide. Lastly, our tourism sector needs attention, not only the destination but also the workers in this sector. These workers are working long hours every day without seeing a return in their paychecks. We need to come to an agreement to provide these tourism sector workers with a positive alternative.

Crucial areas for action?

Aruba needs a new direction in tourism. As our primary economic pillar, tourism impacts our entire island. We must attract quality tourism with minimal environmental impact and ensure sustainability for the future. I will work on a plan to preserve our resources and secure their longevity for future generations, collaborating with the Tourism Office, AHATA, and other stakeholders.

What defines an honest politician?

An honest politician chooses transparency—not just with parliament but also with voters who put their trust in their candidate to represent them in government.

How do you maintain honesty in politics?

Since entering politics, I have worked with honesty and transparency. I avoid making promises I can’t keep and instead listen to my voters to find solutions. By staying truthful, I have proposed several amendments to improve our laws.

Ideal term for a political career?

The length of a political career can be subjective; some are called to it young, others later. However, a politician must always act fairly, transparently, and with respect. Politics is not a game; it’s serious, and each politician should take their responsibility to serve at a high level.

Vision for the next 4 years?

I aim to bring change to the Tourism and Education sectors in Aruba. Workers in tourism should see the benefits of increased visitors in their earnings, and we need to explore ways to give them a better work-life balance. Our teachers deserve better support as they guide and educate our youth. It’s time to focus on our education system and work to modernize it entirely.

How do you plan to achieve the changes you seek?

I will sit at the table with stakeholders to discuss and address key points for improvement. With dialogue, we can go far. It’s time to roll up our sleeves and work. Every sector has its challenges, and we can’t wait any longer. My commitment is to my beloved island.

"As an education professional, I believe in continuous learning, work with devotion, and enjoy a fulfilling career. In my personal life, I am blessed with family harmony, along with my spouse and child. Gratitude for God’s blessings drives me to fight for the well-being of all, young and old. Whether in school or in Parliament, I give 100% to ensure the best for students and citizens. I bring extensive experience as a Parliament member, interim leader of the AVP faction, and Chair of the Tourism Committee. I have stood out as a prepared representative with respect for my colleagues and institutions. My focus remains on Education, Tourism, Economy, and Youth Welfare, and one of my proudest achievements is the law ensuring quality and safety standards in childcare centers. There’s still much more I wish to accomplish, especially in Education, which needs attention now more than ever. For instance, reforming the curriculum to incorporate more than just academics and making schools a hub for sports and the arts. All of this is possible with your support. Vote #6 to build a better future and continue the good work for our community."
