Aruba is making its firm mark on the global sports stage with its participation in the Olympic Games in Paris 2024. The Aruban Olympic Committee (COA) has played a crucial role in ensuring that Aruba has representation at the world's most prestigious sporting event. Since their debut in 1988, Aruba has participated in every Summer Olympics, representing with pride and determination.
After the separation from the Netherlands Antilles in 1986, Aruba competed for the first time as a country in the Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea in 1988. From 1952 to 1984, Aruban athletes competed as part of the Netherlands Antilles. With the formation of the Aruban Olympic Committee in 1985 and its recognition by the International Olympic Committee in 1986, Aruba became a nation with a recognized National Olympic Committee in the Olympic world. This recognition is very special because it grants Aruba the right to participate not only in the Olympic Games but also in other games such as the Pan American Games and more. Another important aspect of this is that Aruba has access to financial funds from Olympic Solidarity, which is the main income of the Aruban Olympic Committee. Although Aruba has not yet won an Olympic medal, it continues to work hard to raise its sports level and fly the Aruban flag high on the world podium.
For the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, Aruba will have six (6) competitors in four (4) sports.
This will be Aruba's tenth (10) participation in these Olympic Games
