Many people know him for his active participation in various singing festivals in Aruba. His name is Ian Tromp, only 9 years old, born on January 19th. Ian's favorite color is blue, and he enjoys eating cheese arepas and drinking cola. He is currently in the 3rd grade, and his favorite subject is math.
From a young age, Ian's family noticed his keen ear for music. He would easily memorize the lyrics of songs. At just two years old, he would listen to Bruno Mars on the radio and quickly memorize most of the song lyrics and rhythms. Ian has always enjoyed dancing. At three years old, his parents and family created a road piece for him to participate in Carnival, where they noticed he would try to sing all the Carnival songs and attract a lot of attention from the audience. This is where Ian became the number one fan of Galloway, and hence his stage name "Ianway" was born.
The following year, at the age of four, Ian decided to compete in the pre-infant category of the 'Roadmarch', where Galloway created their song. He came in second place and put on a great show for the audience. That same year in 2019, he also participated in the 'A Song for Our Anthem and Flag' festival in the 4-6 age category, where he won first place. Since then, Ian has been actively participating in various festivals, but his favorite remains the Roadmarch.
Ian's mother, Nicole Arends, and his father, Norman Tromp, taught him the songs, and he learned them quickly. In the last two years, he has been receiving coaching before the singing festival from Jufrouw Emilenne Boekhoudt. Ian's performances on stage always come as a surprise to everyone. He enjoys dancing, and when he steps onto the stage, he sets a great atmosphere for his audience, leaving his family surprised by how much energy he puts into his performance.
At the moment, Ian enjoys listening to Reggae and Billie Eilish. He is eagerly looking forward to his next festival. His wish is to compete in all three Carnival festivals next year: Roadmarch, Caiso, and Tumba.
