Fatme Faarup-Rigaud is a cornerstone and prominent figure in our cultural landscape, with a life dedicated to preserving and promoting the dance traditions of Aruban culture. With grace and passion, she connects history with movement, transforming folklore and tradition into a powerful spectacle of emotion. ""From a young age, I was part of Pierewietje, Diana Antonette's dance school, Danza Aruba, and Ceslin Yarzagray, among others, which shaped my love for dance. Through their teachings, folklore dances have been deeply rooted in me since childhood."
As a teacher in her own right, the love Fatme has shown for our culture through her dance and performances has earned her well-deserved recognition and attention. "I studied at IPA in the subject of CKV, which focuses on arts and culture. There, I delved deeper into the discipline of dance, and we learned much about our folkloric dances from Mrs. Diana Antonette. During my studies, I participated in many shows with my fellow students and performed numerous folkloric shows with Jhon Freddy Montoya and Bernadina Growell. This love truly became a passion. And today, as a teacher, I pass on my knowledge to the youth at Maria College Mavo."
