SPORTS ILLUSTRATED MAGAZINE MAKING HISTORY WITH 81-YEAR-OLD MARTHA STEWART IN A SWIMSUIT ON THE COVER
In a swimsuit and striking various model poses, the all-time lifestyle mogul, Martha Stewart did it again. At 81 years old, Martha Stewart is the 'talk of the moment' with her appearance on the cover of the 'yearly swimsuit edition' of Sports Illustrated, known for its covers of much younger women in swimsuits. The photos were taken in the Dominican Republic. The magazine describes Martha Stewart as 'the very definition of a TRUE INFLUENCER' due to her numerous shows, books, product lines and followers on social media.
Martha Stewart used to work as a model in her younger years. She learned the art of cooking from her mother and gardening from her grandfather. In 1976, she started a catering business in her basement and the rest is history. Today she owns an empire bearing her name as its brand, recognized worldwide.
Martha herself sent a message to her followers about what this means to her; "I am very excited to be on the cover of @SI_Swimsuit," she said in an Instagram post. "I hope this cover inspires you to challenge yourself to try new things, no matter what stage of life you're in."
This cover comes just a few weeks after another popular magazine, People Magazine, also launched their May edition with 85-year-old former model, actress and activist Jane Fonda on their cover.
