The 71st edition of Aruba’s Carnival introduced a fresh era with four new faces in the role of MC. A love for the festive atmosphere, a wealth of talent, and contagious energy are the foundation that secured these four MCs a place in the history of Carnival 2025. At just 19 years old, Jorienne Angela describes herself as a lively, jolly, and multi-talented individual.

Her passion for the arts began at a young age, and today, she is a well-known figure in the worlds of music and carnival. Her artistic journey is an inspiration for many young people, proving that dedication and hard work can take you to great heights.

Jorienne began her singing career at the age of four, participating in gospel and school festivals. “At 11, I participated for the first time in the 'Kids Christmas Song Festival,' where I placed fifth.” This marked the beginning of many other festivals and experiments with different music genres.

Her talent and dedication quickly bore fruit. She was crowned Juvenile Dande Queen for four consecutive years, won a singing competition at Nos Himno in 2023, was Juvenile Roadmarch Queen twice, and won the Tumberito Queen title once. After a successful journey in the juvenile category, Jorienne took a break before stepping up to the adult level, preparing herself for the bigger stage. Her first major victory as an adult was at the Festival di Caya Brazil, followed by her biggest achievement yet at Tumba Grandi.

For Jorienne, art is life. She is not only a talented singer but also a painter, chef, barber, and now, an MC. Her love for creativity and artistic expression is evident in everything she does.
"I am incredibly proud of all my achievements and happy to see how far I’ve come from where I started."

One of the new doors that recently opened for Jorienne was the world of MCing. Her invitation to take on the role came from Julio Andrews, who recognized her talent and asked if she was interested. "Without thinking twice, I accepted the challenge," says Jorienne. She enjoys challenges and was eager to try something new.

To prepare, Jorienne worked on her stage presence by watching videos of past MCs at the Queen’s Election and receiving tips from her mentor, MC Tarrick. She felt that her chemistry with her co-MC was great, resulting in a positive and dynamic energy on stage.

Jorienne is a big fan of Carnival, enjoying all the events, though her favorites are the singing festivals.
"In Carnival, I play more than one role since I am a singer and now also an MC. Being a Master of Ceremonies this year was a unique experience because it was something new for me. The moment you step on stage, all the attention is on you and what you're presenting, and at the same time, you have the power to energize a massive audience."

An anecdote that Jorienne shares with us is about the moments before she was ready to step onto the stage when her mind traveled back to her childhood. "I used to watch television and imitate the presenters of the Queen’s election, never imagining that one day I would stand on stage myself and experience the same thing."

Jorienne believes that the new generation must continue to elevate traditions and introduce fresh ideas to help Carnival evolve.

"If we bring innovation every year, events will continue to grow and become even bigger. We have the new energy of a new era that can take our Carnival to greater heights."

Her advice to other young people is to believe in themselves and their talents.
"Take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way because if we don’t, no one else will do it for us. We are the future of Carnival, and we carry this beautiful and beloved tradition."

Looking ahead, Jorienne envisions herself continuing to grow in Carnival, with a desire to build her own legacy as a singer and MC.
"Every year is an opportunity to improve and become the best version of yourself."

If she had to describe Carnival in one word, Jorienne, without a doubt, would say:

"Goosebumps."
