When you think of beauty queens, the typical image is that of participants with beautiful gowns and shining crowns on a glamorous stage. But former beauty queens, Desiree van den Berg and Noreen Vingerhoudt, have ventured far beyond that dazzling world. Both are competent medical professionals in aesthetics who have now combined their unique knowledge of beauty with their professional medical expertise to launch an avant-garde aesthetic clinic in Aruba called COSMEDICA. Their professional commitment is to introduce advanced European techniques in Aruba.
After many years of medical practice, Noreen was ready to return to her home, Aruba. She didn't know Desiree yet, but they met through a mutual friend. Desiree was also exploring the idea of coming to Aruba to live with her family. They got to know each other, and that's where they discovered shared goals and similar thoughts. Thus, the idea of COSMEDICA was born with a philosophy of shared beauty anchored in impeccable and natural beauty.
Born in Aruba, Noreen was initially a trauma orthopedic surgeon who worked in the Netherlands and Germany. She started working as an aesthetic doctor alongside her surgical job in 2012 and opened her own clinic in 2016. She also worked at the second and third largest and renowned clinics in the Netherlands: Velthuis Kliniek.
She worked for several years as an emergency care teacher, teaching resident doctors surgical strategies and how to handle emergency situations. She went on humanitarian missions to Benin (West Africa) with a German NGO and a team to perform surgery (in a container) in challenging cases. She completed her Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2022 and received her second medical degree in 2022: Cosmetisch Arts KNMG. Noreen was a top 10 finalist for Mrs. Netherlands Universe in 2016, and since 2013, she has been writing an editorial called 'World of Wine' in Society World Magazine. In her work in aesthetics, she has her defined style: "I enjoy the precision involved, the art behind the process, and the uniqueness of each individual.
You can truly help someone, even though it's different from a hospital with a serious illness. Whether it's smoothing something that causes insecurity or helping someone express themselves more as they feel. That's very rewarding. Each approach is personalized, taking into account personality, ethnicity, and preference. As our understanding of how the face ages has significantly improved over the years, we now have a better understanding of how to treat and maintain natural results.
For me, 'less is more' is the key, and natural results are what I strive for. We should age, and our goal is to help someone age gracefully, not to reverse it. Anti-aging is not realistic. If what someone asks for is unrealistic or not feasible, I won't perform the treatment."
A medical doctor (MD) from the University of Amsterdam, specializing in aesthetics and certified through the KNMG title. She is an international trainer at the Allergan Medical Institute, where she teaches other doctors about anatomy, consultation, the aging process, and the perfect execution of treatments with hyaluronic acid fillers and botulinum toxin.
During a consultation, she examines her clients holistically through 3D images and detailed questions to create a personalized treatment plan.
Honesty, safety, and natural results are her guarantees, and making her clients feel how they feel is her measuring tool for the success of her treatments. With her background as Miss Netherlands 2010, she has a natural affinity for beauty, and her mission is to empower her clients to be the best version of themselves with more self-confidence.
"We want people to give our clients compliments because they look good, rested, and radiant without it being obvious that they've done something to their faces," Desiree says.
Medical safety and validation are paramount. All their services are backed by solid scientific research and performed by medical professionals to ensure powerful results with minimal downtime. With an initial focus on Botox and filler treatments, they plan to introduce more face and body-directed treatments soon.
