Angelica, an interior designer at Crown, Aruba’s largest furniture store, has dedicated her life to transforming spaces into places filled with aesthetics, functionality, and emotion. From a young age, Angelica always felt a special connection to design and art. “My mom always encouraged me to learn. After school, I attended ballet, music, painting, and embroidery classes,” she shares. These experiences guided Angelica to her passion: transforming spaces with creativity and style.
When she arrived in Aruba, Angelica began working on storefront designs for shops, as well as logos and business cards. However, her big break came when an American client asked for her help decorating a newly renovated home. “I took on the challenge, and after seeing the result, the client was very satisfied.” This moment marked the beginning of her career in interior design and eventually led to her joining Crown’s team.

For Angelica, every project starts with listening to and understanding her client’s needs. “The first step is always getting to know the person, their taste, and how they want to use their spaces,” she explains. After analyzing the space, colors, lighting, and textures, she develops a concept that guides the design.
“The most gratifying moment in my work is when I deliver a fully transformed space,” Angelica says. From furniture selection to the final decorative touches, her minimalist approach blends with her ability to adapt her style to her clients’ needs and the items available in the store. “Design is a collaboration where the client’s input enriches the final result,” she adds.

Angelica acknowledges that some of the most common design mistakes include poor space management, excessive use of colors or patterns, and lack of attention to lighting. “Listening to your client carefully and showing examples of previous designs is key to building trust,” she says. While some clients like to be actively involved in the process, others trust her vision completely.
A memorable challenge was decorating an entire home in just three days. Despite the time and resource limitations, Angelica did her best, although the client made changes that affected the harmony of the design. “This experience taught me that clear communication and constant collaboration are key,” she explains. Now, with more support from the store, she can dedicate more time to service projects, ensuring optimal results.

“As a woman in interior design, my approach is emotional and inclusive, with an innovative touch that promotes gender equality,” Angelica shares. Her experience in Aruba has allowed her to work with varied styles, from colonial to contemporary, always adapting to trends and the needs of the local market.
For Angelica, pursuing a career in a field you love is essential. “When you work in something you are passionate about, every day you feel motivated to learn, be creative, and give your best.”
