His plan was to go to the Netherlands to continue his studies and work in the field of law, but his destiny changed when he received a job offer to work with Hugo Boss. Despite his young age of 23 and being motivated by his attraction to 'brands,' Amit accepted the challenge. He viewed this proposal as an interesting opportunity that has now marked the beginning of his own business venture with his store TILTED.

Amit was raised in a family that is very active in business, so there is no doubt that his influence and training started there. "I have always been connected to the world of fashion, through my family but also through my life experiences. My father included me in business from a young age, from the simple act of greeting a person to attending important meetings. He allowed me to observe everything he was doing and for me to understand everything he was doing and why he was doing it. Discipline plays an important role, and if you want to achieve success, sacrifice is also part of it. A specific lesson that has stuck with me is to conduct business honestly. Do business honestly and you will be rewarded!"

With a sense of pride, Amit explained the origin of the name 'Tilted' as a concept born out of humor and vision shared with his father, creating a brand identity that symbolizes a unique perspective and aspiration for excellence.

"My father and I, we have a way of thinking a little differently from the rest. Over time we have refined the meaning behind the 'Tilted mindset,' a unique way of looking at life and always seeking the best." The logo - a 'T' designed as a ladder - symbolizes the continuous ascent and ambition of the brand. "This indicates that we will always rise!"

The strategy for keeping Tilted ahead of the quick changes in fashion is based on a combination of vigilance and collaboration. “ "The brands that we choose to offer at Tilted must pass a little test before we consider working with them. First, we want to know what impact you have on the market and what the long-term goals of the brand are. Second is quality, our customers are repeat and always happy with what we sell them, due to the high-quality products we offer. Third is the collection itself, when you look in our store you can see a variety of colors and designs. All well-coordinated with each other."

On the other hand, Amit's leadership and the input from his young team ensure that the store is always 'on top' with the latest fashion trends.
"I act as the head of Tilted Premium, however, my colleagues also play an important role in what happens in the store. My team consists of people much younger than me, all under 21 years old. They keep themselves updated on what's happening in the world of fashion and the latest trends. I would be a fool if I didn't listen to them!"

"Our focus is more on the locals, we are proud to be a local place. We value our people. Tourists can definitely get a good selection as well when they visit us. Even tourists appreciate the fact that we can offer something different compared to the rest." Tilted is a store that reflects the cultural richness of Aruba, offering a unique shopping experience for both publics.

Like many merchants, Amit has not escaped challenges - he has faced typical challenges of a small market and strong influence from external trends. "Tilted was a spontaneous decision. So with everything at the last minute, however, we are very fortunate to have wonderful people who have supported us throughout the entire process. One of the challenges in the Aruban market is the influence that American culture has on the island, including in clothing. This is why it is a learning curve to make people understand European fashion.

If he could change one aspect of the business landscape in Aruba to benefit young people who want to start their own businesses, what would it be?

"Definitely to make it easier to prepare legal requirements. Many young entrepreneurs are not aware of all the legal paperwork that is necessary. This can cause them unnecessary problems in the future with their company."

Always be humble and grateful. Never assume you are better than someone else. Today might be your day, but without the support of your people, you could fall the next day. Spread love and always help if you can, what you give always returns double as a blessing. I'm not perfect as a person, but I always try to be the best version of myself.

Item 1 of 3

Amit's outlook for the future is filled with hope and ambition; Tilted will soon expand into the women's fashion area too. Stay tuned! For the long term, I want to make Tilted a store franchise throughout the Caribbean where people are sure to come and find quality!

"Life changes unexpectedly. In my case, I finished law school and had a good job offer, two weeks later I decided to stay in Aruba and open my business. If you believe 100% in your vision, do not let anyone discourage you. My parents have 20 years of experience in the business. However, I have done many things differently compared to them. In the end, this still works. Find your own path and show everyone that what you have envisioned will yield results! Make the sacrifice, give it extra time now. You can reap the benefits in the future. Not everyone has the vision, but if you have the vision, trust in yourself and DO NOT waste it! During this period you are a sponge, you have a lot to learn so everything that people teach you and inform you, absorb it like a sponge and use it to advance

Always remember to be humble and grateful. Never assume you are better than someone else. Today might be your day, but without the support of your people, you could fall the next day. Spread love and always help if you can, what you give always returns double as a blessing. I'm not perfect as a person, but I always strive to be the best version of myself.
